Study Area

Julian's brief is to consider and cost the opportunities for energy production from agriculture and review how the industry can provide services to the wider community. This will focus particularly on waste management through the production of compost as well as generating energy from wastes.

He will consider the potential energy sources from agricultural waste materials and forest residues, as well as crops such as Short-Rotation Coppice (SRC). This will be complemented by a technology review, considering AD and CHP from micro to large-scale projects. This will be delivered through case studies that will present detailed financial information, legislation implications and governmental policy incentives. The aim of Julian's report is to get behind the headline material viewed in the press over recent years, providing practical information that is valuable to farmers and advisors.
